Feature Friday: Josh Stewart's Supercharged "Stunna-Runna" 4Runner Build
Share
Josh Stewart's 2014 Limited doesn't look like every other 5th Gen on the trail - and that's exactly the point.

Known as @joshua2k_fc on Instagram, Josh built his 4Runner around one guiding idea: uniqueness. Where most builds chase the same formula, the "Stunna-Runna" goes its own direction - a supercharged Limited wrapped in satin perfect blue, running white wheels and full armor, with a family inside joke baked right into the side of the truck.
This is a 4Runner that gets noticed before it ever turns a tire off pavement. But underneath the head-turning looks, there's a genuinely capable setup: Icon Stage 2 suspension, 33-inch Falken Wildpeak AT4s, full ARB skid plates underneath, and CBI rock rails on the sides. Josh describes it as nearly complete - just bumpers and a winch to go, and he'll call it done.
The Supercharged Heart
The headline mod on this build isn't something you can see in a photo. Josh's 4Runner is supercharged with a Magnuson supercharger and tuned with OTT - a combination that transforms how the 5th Gen drives, especially at altitude and under the added weight of armor, larger tires, and gear.
For a Limited that started life as the street-friendly trim of the lineup, forced induction is a bold choice. But it fits the theme of this build perfectly: this was never going to be an ordinary 4Runner, so why drive like one?
Standing Out: The Satin Perfect Blue Wrap
You can't talk about this 4Runner without talking about the color. The satin perfect blue wrap is the first thing anyone notices, and it's the mod Josh points to when asked what he loves most about the setup: the uniqueness of it. He wanted something that looked different from everybody else's - and in a sea of black, white, and gray 4Runners, mission accomplished.

He's honest about the tradeoff, though. When asked what he'd do differently, the wrap is his answer - not because of how it looks, but because of the upkeep. It looks cool, but it's a pain to maintain and damages easily. That's the kind of real-world perspective that only comes from actually living with a mod, and it's worth hearing for anyone considering a full wrap on a truck that sees real trail time.
Armor, Suspension, and 33s
Underneath the blue, this is a properly protected rig. Full underbody armor from ARB skid plates shields the vitals, while CBI rock rails guard the sides - the white rails tying in nicely with the white wheels for a coordinated look that most armored builds don't bother with.
The Icon Stage 2 suspension and 33-inch Wildpeak AT4s give it the stance and grip to match the protection. This is a setup built to be used, not just photographed - and the trail photos prove it, with the Stunna-Runna out in the Colorado high country alongside friends' rigs, dusty and doing exactly what it was built for.

STRTPro: A Family Inside Joke
Look closely at the fender and you'll spot the "STRT PRO" decal with a mountain logo. When people ask what it means, Josh sarcastically tells them it stands for "snail trail racing team." The real story is better: it's a family inside joke - it's how they say their last name, Stewart.

It's a small detail, but it's the kind of thing that makes a build personal instead of just a parts list. Just about every 4Runner has mods, but not every 4Runner has a story baked into the side of it.

What's Next for Josh's 4Runner
Josh is refreshingly clear about where this build stands: it needs front and rear bumpers and a winch, and then he'll be happy. After the supercharger, the wrap, the armor, and the suspension, the final pieces are the ones that complete the trail capability picture.
Given how intentional every choice on this build has been so far, expect the bumpers to match the theme - functional, but different from everybody else's.
